Toes and crests from points

This function creates four sets of lines representing the Crests, Toes, Top of rill and Bottom of rill lines within a pit.

The input data showing the pit can be set of points, scans or surfaces. The results are saved to individual toes and crests containers under CAD.

  1. Import the pit data into a new view window.

  2. On the Labs ribbon tab navigate to the Create group and select Toes and Crests from Points.

  3. Main input panel - specify pit centre and continue with creating lines.

  4. Specify the Pit centre to determine the shape of the pit from the drop-down list and choosing from either:

    • By points — place the cursor into the first line, click on the pit to create points to draw a line running along the centre of the pit base.
    • By edge chain — From the project explorer drag the edge chain into the field.
  5. Click OK or Apply to complete the function.

The results are saved in the CAD folder. The system uses the four colours as indicated on the main panel, for the lines describing the crest, toes, top of rills and bottom of rills. These colours can be edited by either single click for the standard colours, or double click for more advanced colour choices.

Each of the line sets is also in a separate folder in the CAD container. Select the four toes and crests containers and view them in a separate window.

Crests and toes lines (pink and red lines), each saved in their own container.

Top of rill and bottom of rill lines (blue and green lines), each saved in their own container.
