Underground Report

The Underground Report Tool accepts a design surface of a tunnel or void and object(s) representing the as-built surfaces (all with ends). It generates a report detailing the conformance between the two. The design surface may also be derived from a centreline tracing the centre of the tunnel, along with a polygon to trace out the surface of the tunnel when projected along the centreline. This report is useful for determining the amount of underbreak and overbreak resulting from digging, or shotcrete application thickness.

  1. On the Query ribbon tab navigate to the Reporting group and select Underground.
The Underground report tool will open and guide you through the steps required to produce the report.

  2. Specify report data - select design surface(s)  and as-built surface. Add additional surfaces for cross sections if desired.

  3. Configure report - adjust the look of the report and the data that will be displayed. Subsections include:

  • Content
  • Colour scheme

Note: The values in the colour scheme are used to define the increments in the results table of the output. Solids are also created based on the underbreak and overbreak increments used in the Colour scheme. These are checked later after analysis in order to validate results. In the case of no noticeable results, the values can be adjusted to show details at the level of the variation for the case in hand.

  • Cross sections
  • Summary table
  • Document
  1. Review report images - examine layouts and adjust accordingly.

  2. Generate report.

  3. Preview report and save/print - examine the final output and save as PDF and/or print out. Click Finish to end the process.

Specify all inputs as required - Design surface (with ends), centreline, as-built surface (with ends), extra cross section surfaces if desired.

Specify components to include with the report.

Configure report to contain desired components.

Set up the Colour scheme to reflect the values that will be used in the output.

Cross sections can be set to a regular fixed spacing as well as custom locations.

Give the report a name, authors name, add a logo and define page layout.

The analysis produces solids representing each of the overbreak and underbreak criteria - as specified by the Colour scheme setup.

Review report components and carry out any final editing if needed (opens the Windows default paint editor) or click Next preview the report.

The report will display Left and Right view as well as Top and Bottom views of the underground tunel.

The report will also display all measurements for each cross sections as in page 4 above.

Print out report or export to PDF.
