Problem Probable cause Solution

View window crashes, visual artefacts, and poor graphics performance.

Compatibility issues with graphics systems.

  • If using NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards, select the 3D App - Game Development global preset in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

  • If using a computer with switchable graphics or dual-GPU, in System > Display > Graphics, ensure the High performance graphics option is selected.

Tool panels are off screen.

Data persistence in this software extends to placement of panels or windows in the workspace. When PointStudio opens, panels will appear in the same positions as the previous session. This can cause a problem if a different monitor arrangement is used in the next session.

Reset panel positions via PointStudio preferences. See Preferences > Manage preferences.

Poor performance or data corruption while working on projects over a network

While it is possible to work on projects stored on a server or network drive, network latency may affect responsiveness and network connectivity disruption may cause data corruption. The larger the project, the more likely it is for such problems to occur.

Make a local working copy of your project and copy the project back to the network location when finished.

Data not displaying properly with very large projects.

Insufficient computer memory to handle the project data.

  • Add computer memory.

Note:  PointStudio requires 32GB minimum RAM.

  • Filter data to hide non-essential data to reduce the amount of data to be processed.
