Curvature

Display the Radius of a Curvature

Use the Curvature option to display, in a standard Vulcan panel, the radius and centre point of a part of an object that is in plan view. You select an object and a point on the object and Vulcan determines the radius and centre point of an arc that passes through the selected point and the two points either side of it.

Instructions

Click Curvature on the Analyse toolbar.

or

On the Analyse menu, point to Details, and then click Curvature.

Select the object. The object must have at least three consecutive points.

The selected object is then highlighted, and you will be prompted to indicate a point of this object.

The indicated point must not be an end point of an open object. The selected point is then assigned a sequence number, and the radius and centre point of the curvature displays through a popup window. The centre point is also shown graphically (+) as an underlay.

Click OK.

Continue determining the radius and centre point of objects or right-click to exit the option. Upon exiting the option, you will be asked whether or not you want to retain the underlay.

You can use the point to snap when designing an arc if you retain the centre point as an underlay.
