TRIMBLE GPS
Vulcan can interface directly with the TRIMBLE TSC1 instrument. However, you will need to set the TSC1 to be in SDR33 mode (use the SDR coordinates setting when downloading). Therefore, the file formats read in and created for the set outs will be in the standard SDR33 format. The TDC1 is supported identically to the TSC1 for downloads.
For uploads, Vulcan communicates with the instrument using a DOS based external program supplied by TRIMBLE (this appears to only work on Windows NT). To use it, you will need to install the
SAComms42.exe
zip file into a folder on your machine, then set the
TRIMBLE_UPLOAD
environment variable to that folder. You will also need the local coordinate transformation parameters in DC format in a file called
TDC1.PROJ
in the folder pointed to by the environment variable
SURVEY_DATA
(or the local folder if
SURVEY_DATA
is not set). This file can be downloaded from the TDC1, and contains a 65TM record, a 64TM record, and a 49TM record. Once the TRIMBLE software starts up, the
tdc1.dc
file contains the upload information that has been generated by Vulcan.
Alternatively, communications can be made with the TRIMBLE Data Transfer GUI tool available from TRIMBLE.
Note: For the TDC1, we recommend that you always use the TDC1 Vulcan setting to upload. However, the SDR33 will suffice. The TSC1 can be used with the Vulcan SDR33 or TSC1 setting (Vulcan 4.2 onwards).
