Overview
Vulcan supports the following data collectors:
- Geodimeters and the Geodimeter based Trimble Total Stations
- WILD/LEICA (GRE3, GRE4, GIF10 and LEICA_TPS1000)
- SOKKIA (SDR22, SDR33 and 8100)
- TRIMBLE GPS (TDC1, TSC1 and newer models)
- TOPCON GTS-7
- COLLECTECH instruments are supported for interfacing and uploading/downloading coordinate files.
- CRITERION 400 is supported for download and reduction only.
There is also an ASCII mode available that allows coordinate files to be imported using the same conventions as the processing of instrument coordinate files. However, you will require an application that allows you to convert your survey pickup into ASCII coordinates.
If you have Tripod Data Systems software, then the Survey > TDS submenu can be used to read the reduced coordinate file format. The Tripod Data Systems software can also be run from in Vulcan.
It is now possible, from Vulcan 4.2 onwards, to override the native Vulcan to instrument communications by nominating another specific application to perform the task. To do this, use the Set Up option (under the Survey > Surveying submenu) and specify that you want to use an alternate communications application. The chosen application will then be used rather than the standard Vulcan communications software.
We recommend using this feature for the newer LEICA instruments, as some 3 rd party packages enable file format conversions and may be the only software capable of communicating to your instrument.
