Overview
Use the Image Registration submenu to create .ireg
files that can be used in place of .pexel
files when loading triangulations. These .ireg
files contain very little data, with the most important field being the name of the linked image. The image can be any one of the following types of file:
- pexel (
.pexel
) - Model_CompuServe.gif (
.gif
) - JPEG (
.jpg
or.jpeg
) - Tagged image file format (
.tif
or.tiff
) - ER Mapper ECW image (
.ecw
) - RGB file
Note: The ER Mapper ECW image format allows a very large texture to be applied to triangulations. For example, over 1 billion pixels may be interactively viewed using this option. Refer to the ER Mapper website for more information on producing ECW images.
An advantage of this submenu is that it has been designed to work with a limited number of control points. With zero points the image is stretched over the whole triangulation. Although, if this is what you want, we recommend that you specify the image file name as the texture name on the Triangulation Load panel as this has the same result. With one point, the scale specified on the Properties panel is used for the mapping. If you specify two points, then two independent scalings are performed for the X and Y axes. Please note, however, that no rotation is performed for two points. With three points you get a well-defined rotation/scale combination. With more than three points, you get the V3.5x pexel-control point style mapping.
