Line Split

Interpolate Points and Triangles

Use the Line Split option to add points and triangles (facets) to a triangulation thus creating a more regular mesh. The difference between this option and the Interpolate option is that this option inserts points along edges that are greater than a specified length, whereas the Interpolate option inserts points at the mid-points of the edges or at the centroid of the triangles if the triangles exceed a specified area.

Instructions

On the Model menu, point to Triangle Edit, and then click Line Split option

Select the triangulation. If there is only one triangulation loaded onscreen, then it will be automatically selected.

The following panel is then displayed.

Maximum side length

Enter the maximum side length. Any triangle edge that is greater than this length is split into sections that are less than or equal to this tolerance.

Solid triangulation

Select this check box if the triangulation being split is a solid triangulation or is overlapping when viewed in plan view.

Click OK.

All edges that exceed the tolerance are split.

The Resultant Triangulation name panel is then displayed. This panel allows you to save the resulting triangulation.
