UTM To Lat/Long

Convert UTM Coordinates to Lat/Long Coordinates

The UTM To Lat/Long option to convert Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) map grid plane coordinates to geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). The converted coordinates displays in the Report Window.

Instructions

• Select Survey menu
• Select Transformations submenu
• Select UTM To Lat/Long option

The following panel displays.

Grid

Valid grids are AMG (Australian Map Grid, a UTM grid based on the Australian Geodetic Datum), CL66, CL58, ISG, MGA and NAD83. Contact your local Maptek office if you require another grid system.

Zone

Enter the UTM zone on which the conversion is to be based (1 to 60).

Easting/Northing/Height

These values are entered in metres. Note that the height is not changed during the transformation to latitude/longitude. It is only included on the panel because the results of the calculation are automatically put into the Lat/Long to XYZ panel to simplify the conversion of local grid coordinates all the way through to XYZ coordinates on WGS84. Alternatively, if the Local to UTM option has previously been selected, the results of that option will automatically be shown as default values in the above fields.

Select OK.

The converted coordinates are then displayed in the Report Window.
