Variogram generation and their analysis described previously have dealt with point data information. However, seldom in practice will point data be available. The data is defined on a certain support centred on a point, for example a core sample. A semi-variogram which has been calculated on one type of support will not be the same as that calculated on another. The bigger the support, the smoother the grade, hence the lower the variance.
