Create or Delete Surfaces

The top and bottom of each horizon is represented via lines in Section view called "surfaces". These are not the same as surface models such as triangulations or grids, which are three-dimensional elements.

You can manually create surfaces using the Dragline > Horizons > Create Surfaces menu option. Choose to create all surfaces in a section or all surfaces in all sections.

  1. To Delete a surface, select Dragline > Horizons > Delete Surfaces.
  2. Choose to delete all surface in a section, or all surfaces in all sections.
  3. Rebuild the surfaces via Dragline > Horizons > Create Surfaces.

Deleting surfaces may become necessary if a corruption of that surface has occurred in a section or if it has been accidentally edited outside of the Dragline > Horizons menu.

If you want to remove a surface permanently, but in fact you want to remove that horizon, then the Dragline > Horizons > Delete Horizons menu option should be used instead.

Note:   If you need to delete any surface(s), it is imperative that you do not delete them by selecting them and deleting them in the normal Vulcan manner. To delete a horizon, you must use the Dragline > Horizons > Delete Surfaces menu option. Failure to do so will result in the surface line graphic option being deleted, but the record remains in the dragline specification file. This will cause the dragline module to become out of sync, and cause critical errors in the process.
