Create Dragline Bench Template

Use the Create Dragline Bench Template option to create bench templates that allow dumping spoil to form a bench for the dragline to sit on.

Instructions

On the Dragline menu, point to Templates, and then click Create Dragline Bench Template to display the Create Dragline Bench panel.

If a Dragline specifications file (.rsp) was not opened prior to selecting this option, then the Open Dragline Specification panel displays first.

Template Name

Enter the name of the template (a maximum of 40 alphanumeric characters). If you enter the name of an existing template, then you will be prompted to specify an alternative name once the Create Dragline Bench panel has been completed.

Bench width

Enter the width of the bench to be created in the template. The bench width is generally the length between the left and right crest. All units are defined in the .dg1 file.

Place by

Refer the diagram below to understand the left and right crest in the resulting bench template. Left crest can have a right fall and right crest can have a left fall but they are optional. Enter the relative value of the fall if you select this option. By default, it's 37.0 decimal degrees (dd).

Digitise creates a standard bench template on the topography. You will be prompted to select a crest position. Locate a point with your mouse and a template is created at that base point depending on whether you selected left or right crest in the previous option.

Click OK.

The resulting bench template depends on the selection of left or right crest, their respective right or left fall, and the values of bench width and fall. Below are some bench templates based on different selections.
