Coal Borehole Graphics Pattern Definition
Use this option to set up the pattern legend for a drillhole database containing coal information.
Instructions
On the Geology menu, point to Drilling Utilities, then click Coal Borehole Graphics Pattern Definition.
Follow these steps:
-
In the Lithology Details pane, select the type of database link you want to use, then select the drillhole database from the drop-down list.
-
Isis File - Select this option to nominate an Isis database. The drop-down list displays all Isis database files found within your current working directory. Click Browse to select a file from another location.
-
ODBC Link - Select this option to nominate an ODBC link database. Select the design name from the drop-down list.
Note: For information on setting up an ODBC link, see Getting Started > Introduction to Vulcan > Databaes Management > ODBC Interface.
-
-
Select the Scheme Details. Use the drop-down menus labelled Scheme name and Table name. If no Scheme name and Table name are available and this is the first time the information is being input, create a new name for each.
Note: This is not the same as the Scheme file <Project Prefix>.scd. Rather, it is unique to borehole graphics. It has a file name structure of <Environment>bhc.leg.
-
Select the Primary lithology field from the database.
-
Select the Secondary lithology field from the database if available.
-
Click Legend Code in the menu tree to continue.
-
Enter the Default coal code. This is the lithological code that is used for coal in the drillhole database.
-
Enter the Composite code where Coal: Dirt ratio > 50%, and Composite code where Coal: Dirt ratio < 50%.
Note: Complete these fields regardless of whether there is a percentage field or not in the drillhole database.
-
In the All Coal Codes table, enter all lithological codes that are used in the drillhole database to signify coal. You can enter these individually or use the buttons below the table to quickly populate your entries.
-
Defaults - Apply default patterns and coal compression details.
-
Populate - Loads all legend codes from the selected lithology database.
-
Clear - Clears all entries from both grids.
With each button, a confirmation dialogue will be displayed before executing the command.
-
-
In the Legend table, type in the 1st coal code in column 1 and, if available, the second coal code in column 2.
-
Enter a description of the coal code.
-
Select a pattern to apply to the borehole for each coal code by clicking the
icon.
These patterns are from the Bore Hole Graphics Pattern Chart under the menu option Plot Available Pattern Table (symleg.bgq).
-
Click Save. Click Cancel to exit without saving.
