Status toolbar

Use this toolbar to set the layer, Z value, W tag, gradient, colour, line type and pattern defaults. It is also possible to use the Properties and Triangulation Properties icons to modify the graphics attributes of existing objects and triangulations.

Name

Description

n.a.

Window

Gives access to the various open windows. The default is the current active window. The window name with a "(*)" (see image above) appended is the Primary Window.

n.a.

Layer

Gives access to the loaded layers. The default is the current active layer. If a layer name is suffixed with the word "empty", then it does not contain any objects. Both new layers and layers that have been deleted, but not deselected, in the current session are "empty".

n.a.

Z

Refers to the Z value that will be used for the initial point when digitising any of the design objects (line, polygon, point etc.). The Z value is only effective when digitising from the 'look top' view.

If points are not being created with the specified Z value it might be necessary to press the Reset button. When using the 'look bottom' view, the default Z value is the average of the highest and lowest point in the layer. The Z value that is being used to digitise is always shown in the Status Bar (lower right corner of the Workbench).

n.a.

W

Refers to the W tags that will be used for the initial point when digitising any of the design objects (line, polygon, point etc.).  A W tag can be used as a group identifier and is not limited to a single object. To view the tags of an object in the workspace, right-click on the object, point to Label, then click Point W value.

To assign W tags from the Status Toolbar, enter a number, create or edit your object, then save it. The W tags will then be associated with that object.

n.a

Grad

Refers to the gradient that will be used for all subsequent points in a digitisation, i.e. the first point will have the value of the current Z value and then all subsequent points will have their height set according to the current gradient. The gradient value that is being used to digitise is always shown in the Status Bar (lower right corner of the Workbench).

The gradient value can be specified as either a percentage ('n%') or as a ratio ('n:n') or by default in degrees ('n'). The gradient value is not used by 2D text, 3D text or arcs. When drawing closed objects (polygon and textured polygon) the gradient is used for all lines that belong to the object except the one joining the last point to the origin.

n.a.

Colour Palette

Gives access to the currently loaded colour table. The default is the first colour.

n.a.

Pattern Palette

Gives access to the currently loaded patterns file. The default is the first pattern.

n.a.

Line type

Gives access to the currently loaded line types. The default is the first line type.

Information

Allows you to identify a displayed object or underlay. Click on the button and then select the object or underlay. For objects, the object name, value, group, primitive, feature and name of the layer to which the object is assigned are displayed in the Report Window. For underlays, the information displayed is the name of the underlay and the colour number.

Object Properties

Allows you to modify the graphic attributes (colour, line type and pattern) of an object. Refer to the Design > Attribute Edit > Graphics option for more information.

Triangulation Properties

The Load Triangulation panel displays enabling you to open the Triangulation Properties panel (the same panel is opened when you right-click on a triangulation and select Properties).
