Small Triangles
Remove Small Triangles
Use the Small Triangles option to delete triangles (facets) that do not meet a required area or angle tolerance. To analyse these areas prior to deleting them, we recommend that you use the Problem Areas or the Check options to highlight the triangles that will be deleted.
This option will delete the vertices connected to the triangles and patch up the holes that have been left in the triangulation.
Instructions
On the Model menu, point to Triangle Edit, and then click Small Triangles option
Select the triangulation. If there is only one triangulation loaded onscreen, then it will be automatically selected.
The following panel is then displayed.
Small Area
Select this check box to delete triangles that have an area less than or equal to the tolerance.
Small Angle
Select this check box to delete triangles that contain an angle less than or equal to the tolerance
Retain Boundary String
Select this check box to retain all vertices that form the boundary. Inconsistent edges are included in the boundary in this application.
Click OK.
The Resultant Triangulation name panel is then displayed. This panel allows you to save the resulting triangulation.
