Cut and Fill Roads
Calculate cut and fill volume by specifying a line and intersecting projections to topography.
On the Open Pit menu, point to Ramps, then click Cut and Fill Roads.
Enter road name
Enter the name of the road. The name:

may contain up to 40 characters.

must begin with an alphanumeric character [0-9] or [a-z].

cannot include spaces.
-
can include hyphens [ - ], plus signs [ + ], underscores [ _ ], periods/dots [. ].

can include the special characters of ÁÂÃÀÇÉÊÍÓÔÕÚÜÑ that are used in the Spanish and Portuguese languages.
Topography method
Build topography from contours
Select this option if you have contour polygons for a topography layer but do not have a surface layer constructed. Vulcan will extrapolate the topography for the road from the contour polygons.
Use existing surface
Select this option if you have an existing topography layer.
Haul road design criteria
Road width
Enter width of road.
Density
Enter density of material.
Enter road fill repose angle (degrees)
Enter angle of repose.
Fill colour
Click the coloured box to display the colour palette, then select the colour for the fill material.
Enter road cut face angle (degrees)
Enter angle of face cut.
Cut colour
Click the coloured box to display the colour palette, then select the colour for the cut face.
Click OK to close the panel and select your road polygon and surface layer.
The resulting triangulation is called <roadname>_final_topo.00t.
