Overview
This section describes the options under the TDS menu. The TDS menu options revolve around the use of the Survey Link software package, a package developed by Tripod Data Systems (TDS) based in Corvallis, Oregon, USA. The Survey Link package allows very good input/output between data collectors and a computer, editing of survey data, and conversion of survey data. The Survey Link option on the TDS submenu provides access to this package. The TDS submenu is only available if the Survey Link package has been purchased from Maptek.
The first step when using TDS, is to select the TDS Set Up option. This option to set the location of your survey data files. Optionally, filters can be applied in this option to avoid specified data types from being displayed.
The second step is the Edit Codes option. This option is used to match colour and line type to the descriptors (data types) found in the survey job. Both step 1 and step 2 are generally not used that often, they are only necessary when you work in a different project directory or want to change the data types.
The third step is the Survey Link option that accesses the TDS Link package. This will send the data from the collector to your computer. Once this is done, select the Display option. This option reads the data and displays it on the Vulcan screen.
