UTM Grid

Displaying a UTM Grid on the screen

Use the UTM option to display a UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator map projection coordinates) grid on the screen. The grid consists of line objects that are stored in a layer (standard grids are stored in an underlay). This layer is only temporary. Upon exiting Vulcan, it is deleted unless you rename the layer and save it before exiting. The name of the temporary layer is UT_GRID.

The colour of the grid display will be the current default colour. You can alter this colour by using the Status toolbar.

Note:   If warning messages are displayed, then your window is not of the correct coordinate space. It is possible to alter the coordinates of a window by using the View > Window > Edit option.

Instructions

On the Analyse menu, point to Grid, and then click UTM Grid.

Enter the interval, in minutes of arc, of the latitudes and longitudes for the grid display. Click OK to proceed.

The grid displays on the screen. The colour of the grid is the current default colour.
