Activity Levelling Setup
Use the Activity Levelling Setup panel to set limits for activities. This is not a target based level, and will not optimise in the same manner as Resource Levelling. Instead, it will automatically adjust the Gantt chart to a given target by varying the start date of the activities, and not the rate.
Note: At least one period must be set up in order to set up levelling.
Instructions
In the Gantt Chart area, click on the bar that represents the activity that you want to split, then on the Home tab, in the Activities group, click Levelling Setup to display the Activity Levelling Setup panel.

Allow levelling to split activities?
This is used if levelling determines a higher priority activity is available, yet work has already begun on a lower priority activity. This function would create a split in the lower priority activity (if the remaining duration of the activity is greater or equal than the minimum split time) in order to work on the higher priority activity. If this checkbox is checked the user may also enter a minimum split time. If a higher priority job starts later than the minimum split time, then a given activity will split so that some work may get done before the higher priority job finishes.
