Filter Grid

Use Filter Grid to convert grid nodes to point data. You can also, as part of the conversion process, filter the grid nodes. That is, not all of the grid nodes are necessarily converted to points.

This option treats the X grid lines (that is, the lines that run north and south) as a line (string of coordinates) and then in a process similar to the Design > Object Edit > Filter option removes a grid node if the distance between the node and a line joining the two nodes either side of it is less than the deviation value.

Cross Section View of an X grid line

You can choose to filter every grid line or a sequence of grid lines, for example every second grid line or every third grid line. Also, if you want to convert all of the grid nodes to data points, then you can use a deviation of 0.

This option can also be accessed by selecting the Filter Grid button from the Grid Calc Advanced toolbar.

Instructions

On the Grid Calc menu, point to Data, and then click Filter Grid to display the Filter Grid panel.

Deviation

Enter the deviation required for the filter. Grid nodes that are closer to the line joining the two grid nodes either side of it are not converted to data points. Set the value to 0 if you want to convert all grid nodes to data points.

Grid lines

Enter a number to represent the sequence of grid lines to be converted to data points. A value of 1 will convert all grid lines, 2 will convert every second grid line etc.

Click OK.

The filter is then applied. To view the data points, you must use the Display Data option (under the Grid Calc > Display submenu).
