Load Fault Strings
Use Load Fault Strings to load fault strings from a faulting file or a design database. The faulting file must be an ASCII file and have a format similar to: X, Y, Z, W (where W is the amount of throw).
This option can be used to create a faulted grid. To do so, load your point data then your faults and finally model the data using triangulation (or, if you want just the triangles, triangulate the data).
This option assumes that the throws are stored in the W values and that the faults are vertical. For inclined fault modelling use the options under the Geology > Fault Manipulation submenu.
If the throws are stored in the Z value, then you should use the Load Design option (with the Load as Breaklines check box ticked).
Instructions
On the Grid Calc menu, point to Faults, and then click Load Fault Strings to display the Load Faults panel.
Load from map file
Select this option to load the faults from a nominated fault file (.fld
).
Load from design database
Select this option to load faults from a layer contained in a nominated design database.
Data
Layer
Specify the name of the layer containing the faults. Wildcards (* multiple character and % single character) can be used. The available drop-down list displays the names of all the layers found in the nominated design database.
Object
Specify the name of the fault object. Wildcards (* multiple character and % single character) can be used.
Select OK.
The faults are then loaded.
