Maximum

Use Maximum to evaluate an expression at each grid node and returns the maximum Z value. The equation need not reference the current grid. If the equation is omitted, then the maximum Z value is returned.

Instructions

On the Grid Calc menu, point to Grid Query, and then click Maximum to display the Maximum panel

If an equation is specified, then it is evaluated at every grid location and the location that returns the greatest value displays.

For example, if the grid <HORIZON NAME>.SR is loaded, then the equation Z-<HORIZON NAME>.SF will, in effect, locate the maximum <HORIZON NAME>.SR-<HORIZON NAME>.SF (that is, the thickness as the Z variable is likely a shortcut used to identify the currently loaded grid).

If TP is entered through the Maximum panel (the TP variable is typically used to represent topography), then irrespective of the currently loaded grid values, the location of the greatest TP value (read from the topography grid) in the confines of the current grid displays.

If an equation is not specifeid, that is, the Equation field is left blank, then the Maximum option will locate the maximum value for the currently loaded grid and display its location and value.

Click OK.

The equation is evaluated and the results displayed in the Report Window.
