Re-interpolate Grid

Use Re-interpolate Grid to refine a grid by adding more grid nodes. The new grid node values are calculated from a spline surface patch that is fitted to each grid cell (that is, the area surrounded by four grid nodes). The patch is a mathematical surface that passes through the four nodes of a cell. There is a different patch for each grid cell, but the patches are chosen so they meet and join together smoothly.

Instructions

On the Grid Calc menu, point to Grids, and then click Re-interpolate Grid to display the Spline Refine panel.

Number of interpolated points per grid

Enter the number of cells into which to divide each grid cell.

For example, if the grid spacing of the loaded grid is 100, then a number of interpolated points per grid of 5, would imply that 5 additional cells would be added between each grid node, giving a new grid size of 20 (100/5), and for each grid cell there would be 25 (5 x 5) new cells.

Click OK.

The grid is refined.

To display the grid, use the Static Display Grid or Dynamic Display Grid options (under the Grid Calc > Display submenu). You can also type one of the following two commands at the Grid Calc command line:

plot plot_grid
