Repair by Voxelation

Wrap Solid - Fixing complex solids to make them valid

Use this option to create a valid solid from an invalid solid by flagging a block model by he invalid solid and then generating a grade shell from the result. The result is like wrapping a grid around the invalid solid to generate a valid one.


Instructions

On the Model menu, point to Triangle Solid, and then click Repair by Voxelation to display the Repair Solid by Voxelation panel.

Input Triangulation

Name

Select the triangulation to repair.

Block Model Parameters

Choose the block size resolution for flagging. Smaller blocks will more accurately represent the shape and volume but will take longer to create.

Repaired Triangulation

Name

Select the output file.

Colour

Select the colour of the output triangulation.

Merge triangles within flat areas

Triangulations created by voxelation can have a large number of facets, roughly proportional to the number of blocks in the model. The increased number of facets may slow down future processing of the triangulation. Meanwhile the triangulation may have large flat areas that can be represented by fewer triangles. You can use this option to reduce the number of triangles representing the falt areas.
