Overview

This section describes the options under the Pit Layout submenu.

The Pit Layout options are designed to allow you to define mining blocks or strips, then edit or name them. These blocks can then be used for reserving and scheduling or further mine design work.

Using the Create Strips/Blocks option, mining blocks (polygons) can be created from a base line or in a boundary polygon.

Mining strips (for strip mining layout) can be defined starting from a known baseline. A flexible set of tools is included to limit strips by generating parallel strips offset from the baseline, design mine strips that follow a pit turn or fan layout, generate strips around a crop line, generate strips between two nominated strings, and create blocks by cutting along the cut line of a strip by a specified length ( Offset, Fan, Crop, Slice, Block Layout options).

The size and naming convention of the blocks created can be defined. Blocks can also be Joined together, or Split to meet the needs of the detailed design scenario.

A polygon, such as a mine strip, can be limited against an intersecting string.
