Edit Upload and Download Files and Reports

The Edit option to edit and interactively review upload and download files, as well as survey reduction reports, using your preferred text editor.

Instructions

• Select Survey menu
• Select Surveying submenu
• Select Edit option

The following panel displays.

Edit reduction file

Select this option to edit a specific reduction file. Enter, or select from the drop-down list, the name of the reduction file that you want to edit.

Note:   You will need to reduce the data again for any changes you made to take effect.

Edit reduction report

Select this option to edit a specific reduction report. Enter, or select from the drop-down list, the name of the reduction report that you want to edit. You should note that this is a viewing mechanism for the reduction reports, therefore editing of these files will have no effect on the reduced data.

The drop-down list may contain both uploaded and downloaded files for the currently selected instrument. These files will have the extensions: .<instrument>_in,.<instrument>_out, .gsi (applies to Survey_GRE4.gif10/LEICA instruments that use PC cards for data storage) or .dc and .sdr (applies to the SDR33 instrument).

Select OK.

The file is then opened through a text editor (outside of Vulcan). The Notepad application is the default text editor for Windows, however, you can use the ENVIS_EDIT environment variable to reference a different text editor.
