Edit a survey station library

The Edit Station Library option to edit the stations in a nominated survey station library (<libraryname>.stations). Existing stations can also be renamed or deleted, and new stations can be added.

Instructions

  • Select Survey menu
  • Select Surveying submenu
  • Select Edit Station Library option

The following panel displays.

Enter, or select from the drop-down list, the name of the library containing the stations to be edited.

Display stations

Select this check box to display the stations from the chosen station library.

Select OK.

The following panel is then displayed.

Station name

Enter, or select from the drop-down list, the name of the station (existing) that you want to edit. To create a new station, enter a new station name (maximum size is 20 alphanumeric characters).

Select OK.

The following panel is then displayed.

This panel displays the fields that are available in the survey station file.

Alternative name

This is an optional alphanumeric field of 20 characters that can be used as an alternative station name. This name appears on the listing produced in the List Station Library option.

The alternative name and description should be entered after the coordinates when using the Digitise button.

Description

This is an optional field of 40 alphanumeric characters to describe further the station.

Coordinates

The station's coordinates can be manually entered or you can use the Digitise button. The Digitise button allows you to use Indicate or any of the other Design Entry modes to digitise the coordinates which will then automatically be inserted.

Backsights

Backsight station information is taken as text and placed in the station library (no checks on the validity of the bearings are made). This backsight information is used on the Radiations report. If using degrees as your angular unit, then the bearings must be entered in the ddd.mm.ss format (ddd = degrees, mm = minutes, ss = seconds).

Originating station

The Name, Reverse Bearing and Date fields are optional alphanumeric fields. The Name and Reverse Bearing fields can be used for the name and bearing of the station from which the new station is determined. The Date can be used to record the date that the station was surveyed, put into the system or, if editing existing stations, to record the date of the modification.

The Peg area and Peg status are also optional. The peg area can be used to record the location of the station in the mine, For example, RAMP5. The peg status can be used to record the station's status, For example, temporary, control, deceased etc.

The Calculated by, Checked by, Fieldbook and Reference fields are text attributes of the survey traverse that were used to create the station that is, who surveyed it, who checked it, which fieldbook the traverse was logged in, and a reference. Refer to the New Traverse option for more information.

Delete or rename station

Select this check box to delete or rename the station. If you are renaming a station, then you will need to specify the new station name.

Select OK.

You will then be returned to the Station library editing panel where you can choose to edit another station. Cancel when finished editing stations. You will then be asked whether or not you want to save the edits.

Any editing is placed in a temporary file until the confirmation is given to save the edits. If you quit prior to saving, then no changes are made to the survey station library. Refer to Appendix A for an example of a stations library file.
