Trimble GPS

Vulcan 9 supports the TDC1, TSC1 and more recent instruments.

Vulcan 9 can interface directly to the Trimble TSC1 instrument. However, you will need to set the TSC1 instrument to be in SDR33 mode (use the SDR coordinates setting when downloading). Therefore, the file formats read in and created for set outs will be in the standard SDR33 format.

The TDC1 instrument is supported identically to the TSC1 for downloads. When uploading, Vulcan will communicate with the instrument using a DOS based external program supplied by Trimble.

Note:  This appears to only work on Windows NT.

To use this program, you will need to install the SAComms42.exe file into a folder on your machine and set the TRIMBLE_UPLOAD environment variable to that folder. You will also need the local coordinate transformation parameters (in the DC format) in a file called TDC1.PROJ. This file needs to be stored in the folder pointed to by the SURVEY_DATA environment variable, or the local folder if the environment variable has not been set. This file can be downloaded from the TDC1 instrument and contains a 65TM record, a 64TM record and a 49TM record. Once the Trimble software is started, the tdc1.dc file contains the upload information that Vulcan has generated.

Alternatively, communications can be made with the Trimble Data Transfer GUI tool available from Trimble.
