Data Model Update
This covers the workflow required to update a data model without the need to re scan the entire area.
Combination surface - simple
This workflow is used when the area to be updated is fully enclosed by the existing data.

Create a topographic triangulation of the original data and a separate triangulation of the new data - refer to Create a data model.

Crop the model of the new data so that there is a small overlap between the original and the updated data.

Combination surface - advanced
This workflow is used when the area to be updated is NOT fully enclosed by the existing data.

Create a topographic triangulation of the original data and a separate triangulation of the new data - refer to Create a data model.

Crop the model of the new data so that there is a significant overlap of areas that have not changed between the original and the updated data.

Crop the model of the existing data to remove the areas that are to be updated.
If the surface being modelled does not have 3D shapes such as overhangs, continue with Model a topographic surface, otherwise follow Model an overhanging surface.
Model a topographic surface

Select the surfaces to be updated in the project explorer.

Select Edge selection mode

Select all edges in the surface to be updated.

Select Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V. The edges are copied into a new object in the scrapbook container.

Select Model > Topographic triangulation

Select the Trim boundary triangles checkbox and Single surface.

Make sure the edge network is highlighted in the project explorer.

Click OK.
The triangulation is saved in the surfaces container by default.
