Overview
In mining, as in every business, the objective is to gain as much as possible in the minimum amount time. For this reason, the knowledge of the deposit grades and its evaluation to know the viability is a complex task that requires great efforts in order to determine an optimum cut off grade, making the business as profitable as possible. Different techniques can be used for this. One of the techniques is the model presented by Lane's algorithm to maximise the net present value (NPV).
The Cut-Off Grade Optimiser Editor (or C.O.G. Optimiser Editor) option uses the Lane's algorithm, which calculates the different possible cut off grades for a deposit, in order obtain the most appropriate grade that maximises the net present value of the mining business. In this way, the use of consecutive iterations will be the main tool used by this module, to finally obtain an acceptable result.
