Insert By Line

Use the Insert By Line option to create a construction point where a graded line (defined by two nominated points) is intersected by an existing line segment, as shown in the diagram below.

Note While the screen does not have to be in plan view when using this option, the geometry (i.e. the intersection) is performed in Plan view.

Instructions

On the Design menu, point to Construction Points, and then click Insert By Line.

Using any of the design entry modes, digitise the two points that will define the line, which will be extrapolated to determine the Z value of the construction point.

Once the line has been defined, you will then need to indicate the line segment that intersects the line (or a projection of it). A construction point is then created at the intersection of the two lines, and you will be prompted to indicate another first point. Cancel when finished creating construction points.
