Reporting

Use the Reporting option to report on the metadata information that is currently assigned to your Vulcan data. The resulting report can be outputted to a CSV file and/or an Excel spreadsheet.


Instructions

On the Design menu, point to Metadata, and then click Reporting.

The Multiple Selection box displays. From the displayed dialog, specify the selection criteria followed by the necessary objects.

The Generate Report panel is then displayed.

Enter the name of the file that will be used to stored the report information. The drop-down list contains all.csv and.xls files found in the current working directory. Click Browse to select a file from another location.

To create a new file, enter the file name and file extension.

Export metadata to Excel file

Select this check box to output the report information to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (.xls).

Note If you are outputting the results to an existing Excel spreadsheet, then please ensure that the chosen spreadsheet is not open and that the Microsoft Excel application is not running.

Export metadata to CSV file

Select this check box to output the report information to a CSV file (.csv). You will need to specify the character that will be used to separate the values in the resulting report file. You also have the ability to specify whether or not to include field names in the header section of the resulting file.

Tip:   To create a tab-delimited file, enter '\T'.

Click OK.

The report is then generated.
