Apply a Gradient to a String

Use the Grade option to apply a gradient to a nominated string or part of a string.

This option can also be accessed by selecting the Move by Grade button from the Move toolbar. The Move toolbar is a "sub toolbar" and can either be accessed through the Modify toolbar or through using the Toolbar Visibility option (under the Tools menu).

Instructions

On the Design menu, point to Object Edit, and then click Grade.

You must choose whether to Specify grade manually or Grade between end points.

Specify grade manually

Produces a panel where the gradient can be entered manually.

Grade between end points

Shifts any point that lies between two nominated points to the grade line joining the two points (no panel applies).

You are then prompted to select the object to which you want to apply a gradient.

Select the point (start point) from where you want the gradient to commence. Select the end point, this is the last point in the string to have the gradient applied.

The remaining prompts depend upon the method you chose for applying the gradient.
