Grid Snap

Move all Points in an Object to Grid Intersection Points

Use the Grid Snap option to 'snap' all points in an object onto the closest point, on the grid plane, beneath the cursor. Text objects can also be grid-snapped. To snap objects, a grid must be displayed on the screen. Refer to the Digitise toolbar for information on displaying grids.

This option can also be accessed by selecting the Grid Snap button from the Move toolbar. The Move toolbar is a "sub toolbar" and can either be accessed through the Modify toolbar or through using the Toolbar Visibility option (under the Tools menu).

Note:  Using this option may cause the shape as well as the position of the selected objects to change. When snapping text objects, the text will be moved to the closest point, on the grid plane, beneath the cursor and the angle of the text set to the closest 90° quadrant of the grid.

Instructions

On the Design menu, point to Object Edit, and then click Grid Snap.

The Multiple Selection box displays. Use the Multiple Selection box to choose your method for selecting objects and select the objects.

Once the objects have been selected, the points are then moved to the nearest grid intersection point and, if selecting by object, you will be asked whether or not to keep the snapped object. No confirmation is required if selecting by group, feature or layer. Snapped objects in those categories are automatically kept.
