Change the Length of a Line
Use this option to reset the length of an existing line.
This option can also be accessed by selecting the Relimit Distance button from the Relimit toolbar.
Instructions
On the Design menu, point to Relimit, then click By Distance.
Select the line to relimit. The chosen line is highlighted, and a '+' displays at one of its end points (indicating the end that will be lengthened/shortened). You will then be asked to confirm whether or not the correct point has been selected.

Upon confirmation, the following panel displays.
Enter distance
Note: Enter the length (in real world units) by which to lengthen or shorten the line. The distance value can either by entered as a new line length (relimiting to a nominated distance), or as the distance relative to the chosen point (relimiting by a nominated distance).
Relimiting to a nominated distance will result in the existing line being redrawn before the new length is applied.
Relimiting to a nominated distance
Using a positive value will cause the line to be 'relimited' from the end point to the selected point (highlighted with an '+').

Using a negative value, however, will result in the line being 'relimited' from the starting point in the opposite direction.

Relimiting by a nominated distance
To add or subtract a given length from the existing line, prefix the distance with the letter R (for relative), for example R250 to lengthen the line by 250 metres or R-250 to shorten the line by 250 metres.

Select OK.
The required change in length is applied and you are asked whether you want to retain or reject the change. Upon confirmation, you will be prompted to select another line to relimit.
