Change the Font of Existing Text

The Font option to change the font of an existing text object.

Note:   When changing fonts, the text will assume the drafting angle (direction) used when the text was created (see Create 2D Text option under Create). The drafting angle can be changed through the Angle option.  The size of the text will also be the same as the original text, but in the case of changing from a non-transformable font to a transformable font, the size will be in relation to the map scale. This may result in very small text. The map scale is specified through the Defaults : 2D Text section of the Tools > Preferences option. If this value has not been set, then a standard scale of 1:1250 will be used instead. The scale or text size can be changed through using the Font Size option

Instructions

  • Select Design menu
  • Select Text Edit submenu
  • Select Font option

The Multiple Selection box displays. Use the Multiple Selection box to choose the method of selecting objects and select the objects.

A dialog box displays showing all the available fonts. If you select a font that is non-transformable (Normal, Small, Large or Medium), you will be asked whether you want the text to be framed or not.

The font is then applied. Subsequent object selections will have the same font applied unless you exit the option and re-select.

Tip:   It is also possible to view/edit text attributes through the Vulcan context menu. To do so, right-click on a displayed text object and select Properties from the displayed context menu.
