Block From Wall

Generate Blocks from Walls

Use the Block From Wall option to generate blocks from projected walls (strings). Prior to using this option, you should have generated the centre points through the Seed From Wall option as the block names will be derived from the centre points, for example block name = centre point + projection operation.

Note:   If no centre points have been generated, then the blocks will be named (numbered) -1 to -999. These must be renamed in order to run reserves. To rename, use the Block Number option or, alternatively, run the Seed from Wall option and then this Block From Wall option again.

Prerequisite

  • Use the Seed From Wall option to generate centre points

Instructions

On the Open Pit menu, point to Benching and Batters, and then click Block From Wall.

Select layer walls to use. This refers to the layer containing the projected wall from which the blocks will be generated. The selection will need to be confirmed. Once confirmed, you can select another layer. Cancel when you have finished selecting layers.

Select the layer that contains the seed points (centre points). Once selected, you will be asked whether or not to create the blocks. Create blocks produces the Layer panel, while Don't create returns you to the Select layer walls prompt.

Enter layer for blocks

Enter the layer into which the generated blocks will be placed.

To create a new layer, enter the layer name. The layer name:

    • may contain up to 40 characters.
    • must begin with an alphanumeric character [0-9] or [a-z].
    • cannot include spaces.
    • can include hyphens [ - ], plus signs [ + ], underscores [ _ ], periods/dots [. ].
    • can include the special characters of ÁÂÃÀÇÉÊÍÓÔÕÚÜÑ that are used in the Spanish and Portuguese languages.

Enter layer description

Enter a description to further describe the contents of this layer. The description can be up to 80 alphanumeric characters and may include spaces. If a description is not entered, then a default description will be used instead. If the chosen layer already has an assigned description, the description displays when the layer is selected. Existing layer descriptions can be overwritten.

Click OK.

The blocks are then generated and you are returned to the Select layer walls prompt.

As well as creating the blocks corresponding to each projected wall, a block corresponding to the original block in the blocks method is generated. This polygon can be used to inquire on the reserves when they are created.
