Define Angles

Use the Define Angles option to assign an angle value to one or more line segments, which in turn can be used in the Planes option to create a planar surface. For this option, you will need a digitised string that has one or more line segments that correspond to the axis/axes of the intended planar surface(s).

Note This option uses the W tag to store the angle information. Therefore, any W information already stored for the line segment will be overwritten.

Instructions

Click the Define Angles button on the Open Cut Design toolbar.

or

On the Open Pit menu, point to Open Cut Design, and then click Define Angles.

Select the string that will be used to define the angles, followed by a line segment. Once the line segment has been indicated, it is highlighted and the following panel displays.

Enter the plane angle

Enter the angle of the intended planar surface. The plan angle can be entered as an angle (degrees), a ratio (For example, 1:20) or a percentage (For example, 2.0%).

Click OK.

The angle is then assigned to the first line segment. Once assigned, you will then be prompted to select another line segment in the same string.

Tip When the plane is created through the Planes option, it will dip to the left in the digitised direction of the string. Use the Analyse > Label > Point Label option to determine the direction of digitising.
