Make Mask
Use the Make Mask option to create a polygon around the walls of a pit that has been made from the Projection and Berm etc. options. This polygon can then be used as a bounding polygon when triangulating the pit.
For example, without using the Make Mask option, projecting a closed pit that is registered to a surface will have triangles across the pit floor when any triangulation is created. With the Mask option, a string is created which you can use to limit the triangulation to the walls only.
Instructions
Click the Make Mask button on the Open Cut Design toolbar.
or
On the Open Pit menu, point to pen Cut Design, and then click Make Mask.
Select layer that contains the wall. Once the layer has been selected, you will need to confirm the selection. Upon confirmation, the mask is created and you will be asked whether you want to retain or reject the mask.
The resulting mask polygon will be placed into a separate layer. The format of this layer name is
<layer>.ms
where
<layer>
= the name of layer containing the wall,
Ms
= extension indicating that this is a mask polygon.
