Preferences - Plot Utility
Default Scaled Text
These settings are only applicable to text that was created with the Scaled font.
Scaled font
Select this option to use the standard Vulcan plotting font as seen in version 3.5x.
True Type font
Select this option to substitute the "Courier New" true type font in place of the default scaled font.
The spacing for the scaled font and the true type font differ, which can mean that text appears offset in the plot. To avoid this problem, select the Align words check box. This will ensure that each word starts in the same place as it would have done if the scaled font was used. You should use this option when you are plotting reports, such as in the Underground > Ring Design > Plot Rings option.
Brush Patterns
Specify the size (in centimetres) of the pattern used on the resulting plot.
Figure 1 : Pattern Size
Note: Due to the lower DPI (dots per inch) resolution of the screen, changes in pattern size may not be noticeable until printed.
Emulate transparent patterns
Select this check box if you want to make patterns transparent. This means that if patterns overlap the bottom pattern will be visible through the gaps in the top pattern.

Line Width
The width of the lines on the plot are real world sizes. You can use the line width factor to increase or decrease the width of these lines. A factor of '1' one makes no change, while a factor of '2' will double the line width, that is,, line style 1 would be 0.4 mm wide and a factor of 0.5 (half) halves the width, that is,, line style 1 would be 0.1 mm.

All of the open plots are dynamically updated when you alter the line width factor.
Default Page offset
Default plot to page origin (no offset)
Select this option to have the plot origin coincide with the page origin. Keep in mind that the page contains non-printable margins and by moving the plot origin to the origin of the page you might also be moving some of your plot into the non-printable areas of the page.

Default page to plot area (use printer area offset)
Select this option to have the plot origin coincide with the origin of the printable area.

Whichever preference you choose here will be used by default in the Plot Utility. You can, however, switch between settings in the Plot Utility by using the Adjust page to plot origin button (which aligns the plot with the page origin) or the Adjust plot to page origin button (which aligns the plot origin with the printable area origin) on the Plot Utility Application toolbar.
Use default plotter
Select this check box to use the default plotter specified here rather than the Windows default printer. This means you can have a default printer set for Vulcan and a different default printer for other software applications. Select the default plotter from the drop-down list.
Use Watermark
Select this check box to activate the watermark functionality. All created plots and avis contains the selected watermark, as will any screen captures taken from Vulcan.
Vulcan Logo
Select this option to use the Vulcan logo as the watermark.
Maptek Logo
Select this option to use a standard Maptek logo as the watermark.
Place logo in
Select the desired entry from the drop-down to identify the location of the watermark image.
Watermark Offsets
If desired, you can define a series offsets (padding) for the image. Using a percentage number, these settings allow you to move the watermark image closer or further away from the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the plot.
Enter a percentage or use the slider to identify the percentage amount of offset/padding to use for the watermark image.
Only 32-bit images produce a correctly rendered result. Images can be converted using most photo editing applications.
Click OK to set the offset values.
