Overview

This section describes the options under the Coal Development menu. This menu can be used in conjunction with the Coal Reserves module, which to estimate the volume, tonnage and quality of an underground coal mine.

The Coal Development options allow you to design underground coal mine plans. These plans can be designed freehand, to a regular pattern, or by incorporating existing mine designs. Plans for both Room and Pillar and Longwall/Shortwall methods of mining can be produced.

The design procedure is tailored both for the production of mine plans for plotting purposes, and also to produce unique named mine blocks for long and short term scheduling.

The options on the menu are grouped as follows:

• Setup
  This contains general tools options.
• Drivage
  This contains drivage design tools. Drivages are roadways that are created freehand.
• Panel
  This contains panel design tools. Panels are roadways that are created from templates. This is useful for large areas with roadways in the same pattern.
• Outlines
  This contains outline/block creation and manipulation tools.
