Working With Projects
A project is a self-contained database that consolidates and organises your data. The data source (of varying types) is typically imported into your project, where it can be visualised, analysed and, used to produce other forms of data. Selected data can also be exported into other commonly used standard formats.
When starting PointModeller, you are prompted to select an existing project or to create a new project. New projects contain no data (such as .las, .las, etc.) so the first task is to import this data. PointModeller and other Maptek software saves projects into its .maptekdb format.
To start or open an existing project, use any of the following options while in Workbench’s Start Page tab:
-
Click the Application tile to launch it, then select New or Browse to create a new project or browse for an existing one respectively.
-
Select an existing project directly from the Recent Folders pane in Workbench. That project must have been created by the same application.
-
Click Browse for data folder... to locate and launch that project.
