Create/Open Blast Database

Use this option to open an existing blasthole database or to create a new one.

Note:  This option can also be accessed by selecting the Open Blasthole Database icon from the UG Ring Design toolbar.

Instructions

On the Underground menu, point to Ring Design, then click Create/Open Blast Database.

Follow these steps:

  1. Specify the blasthole database you want to use.

    • Use an existing database by selecting Open database, and then selecting it from the drop-down list. Click the Browse icon to open a database that does not appear in the drop-down list.

    • Create a new database by selecting Create database, then select either ISIS file or ODBC link.

To create an ISIS file database, provide a name by selecting one from the Filename drop-down list or enter a new name. Click the Browse button to search for one that does not appear in the list.

Note:  If you select an existing database, it will be overwritten with any new parameters.

Click the Select button next to New Database Design to select the design sheet file (.dsf) that you want to use for the new design.

To use an ODBC link, use the drop-down list to select the database design file (.dsf) that contains the ODBC link.

Note:  We recommend that you talk to your Database Administrator before setting the link to the external database as there may be some external database permissions that need to be changed.

  1. Select the Ring Section Layer containing the section lines for the current underground ring design. The associated layer will be used to produce the ordered list of sections available to the Navigate Rings option. The layer may also contain stope and drive outlines.

  2. Enter a Description (optional) to further describe the contents of this layer. The description can be up to 80 alphanumeric characters and may include spaces. If a description is not entered, then a default description will be used instead. If the chosen layer already has an assigned description, the description displays when the layer is selected. Existing layer descriptions can be overwritten.

  1. Select Boundaries Layer to use a layer that contains objects that are defined as a stope, drive, or addition lines. One method to create these objects is through the menu option Underground > Ring Design > Auto Profile.

  1. Select Reference Line Layer to use a layer the contains an object that is defined as a reference line.

Note:  The Associated Layer, Boundaries Layer, and Reference Line Layer can all be the same layer.

  1. Select OK.

The chosen blasthole database is then opened.
