CoreViewer

Use this option to view core photos for a selected drillhole in a linked database via the ALS CoreViewerTM portal. Vulcan users with a WebtrieveTM account can use this option to view remotely stored data where web service is available. This integration allows users to view source information as part of their Vulcan model, quickly visualise core data in 3D, and interpret other drillhole data alongside core photos.

Important:  A drillhole database must be loaded prior to using this option. You should use a prepared core legend (DRILL colour scheme type, see Analyse > Legend Editor... for more information) to display the drillholes. You will also need to know your ALS project name and encryption code for your CoreViewer database containing the core photos for the drillholes of interest (named consistently between Vulcan and CoreViewer), as well as your Webtrieve account login information. Contact your local ALS office for access to CoreViewer.

Instructions

On the Geology menu, point to Drilling Utilities, then click CoreViewer.

Note:  You can also access this option through the CoreViewer button on the Geology Drilling toolbar, or right-click on a drillhole and point to Drillhole on the displayed context menu, the click CoreViewer.

Follow these steps:

  1. Enter the Project Name to establish the link to the applicable CoreViewer database.

  2. Enter the associated Encryption Key for the CoreViewer project.

  3. Click OK. You will be prompted to select a point on a drillhole to launch the ALS interface in a web browser.

Tip:  To change the Project Name and Encryption Key after initial entry, go to the ALS Minerals CoreViewer section in Vulcan PreferencesDrill & Blast.

  4. Enter the username and password for your Webtrieve account when prompted in the web browser.

  5. Once logged in, you will be directed to the core photo in your ALS CoreViewer portal at the point along the drillhole that you selected previously. The portal allows users to scroll through the core photos, as well as load other drillhole data in graphical view alongside the core photos.
