Overview

This section describes the options under the Sampling submenu. The options allow you to load onto the screen information from databases such as compositing, channel sampling and grade control.

Samples may be:

  • Loaded by group names (for example blast name). Individual sample information can be displayed by selecting a sample from the group.
  • Deselected by group name or by picking off the screen.
  • Recoloured by user definable display legends.
  • Annotated and the annotations displayed.
  • Contoured or redisplayed using a different colour legend.
  • Annotated with symbols beside each sample in the database group.
  • Flagged with values based on conditions supplied by triangle solids, block models, polygons or scripts.
  • Exported to an ASCII file for use by external programs.

User definable display legends may be set up to display any combination of attributes in the database.

Prerequisites

  • A grade control, composite or other sample type database.
  • Samples colour legends.
  • Sample or blast parameters (<proj>. smp).
  • Symbols (optional).

The details that must be in the. smp file depend on the options being used. The Flag Solids option for example, requires a section

Appendix A includes an example of an. smp file. Appendix B shows the various sections that may exist in the.

Note:   If you are using channel or face samples, then you may prefer to use the Channel Sampling module instead. This module is designed specifically for channel samples.

The Sampling options use the text settings set through Vulcan Preferences > Defaults > 2D Text when plotting crosses through the FilePlot > Plot All option. This is regardless of whether the defaults are enabled or not.
