Grid Calc menu contents

Introduction

This section provides a general introduction to the Grid Calc system. It explains grids, mapfiles and the use of masks as well as model validation techniques. Information on how to start Grid Calc is also included in this section.

Integrated Stratigraphic Modelling

This section contains information for Integrated Stratigraphic Modelling.

Create Surface

Use the Create Surface option to create a simple gridded surface, including combinations of data from existing mapfiles, design data and triangulations.

Create Multiple Surfaces

Use the Create Multiple Surfaces option to create grid models based on existing mapfile data.

Mapfile Generation

Use the Mapfile Generation option to generate regular mapfiles using the same data selection procedures used by the fixing process.

Edit Modelling Defaults

This section contains information relevant to the setting up of Grid Calc specifications.

Grids

This section describes the options available under the Grids submenu, including the accessing of specifications, defining grids, creation of an image, loading triangles and importing from ASCII files. Saving commands into macro files is also explained.

Data

This section provides information on the different types of data Grid Calc can utilise in modelling and how to access it.

Faults

This section provides information on setting, loading and querying zones. Zones are polygons, which represent areas that require independent modelling, such as faults, some qualities and water bodies.

Model

This section provides information on the modelling methods available, both user defined and standard. It also contains information on how to use system created macros for Integrated Stratigraphic Modelling.

Macros

This section provides information on creating, editing, running and saving macros. When using Grid Calc, a replay file is generated that contains all the commands that have been issued during the last session.

Composite Models

This section provides information on the compositing options available for use with a geological model. These include the creation of Burden and Ratio grids, and the creation of ROM structural and analytical models.

Grid Query

This section provides information on the query and statistical options.

Contour and Limit Generation

This section explains the graphical functions available in Grid Calc, including contouring and polygon creation.

Display

This section provides information on the grid display options.

Start Console

Use the Start Console option to initialise Grid Calc as well as open the Grid Calc tab of the Report Window.

Appendix A

This section provides file examples for files created in Grid Calc.

Appendix B

This section lists the grid modelling scripts that can be used outside Grid Calc.

Appendix C

This section provides detailed information on FIXMAP - an interpolation routine used for modelling missing data in a stratigraphic sequence. Included are tips on usage and information on potential limitations.
