Running Vulcan

Once all settings have been configured, you can run Vulcan from the desktop or start menu.

  1. For the first time installation, you will be prompted with an option to set your Vulcan Home Directory.

Choose a home directory, click OK, and the Maptek Workbench is loaded with options for signing into Maptek Account.

  2. Sign in to your Maptek Account, create a new one, or continue without using a Maptek Account. Regardless of the option you choose at this point, you will need to sign in to Maptek Account to run Vulcan.

  3. If you continue without using Maptek Account, you will be presented with the Maptek Workbench home page. The Workbench displays all installed Maptek applications including Vulcan, along with common tools required with the applications. On the top right is the Sign In option.

This is the same account linked to your Maptek Account Licence and you need to sign in to get access to Vulcan.

  4. Once you are successfully signed in, the Maptek Account Licence Tool panel is displayed. Choose the licence associated with your purchase and click OK.

  5. Click on the Vulcan icon to run the application. This runs the default version of Vulcan. If there are multiple versions of Vulcan installed, you can choose from the versions that appear in the drop-down list underneath the icon.

  6. Select a data folder either from the home page or when you are prompted to browse once running Vulcan.

  7. After selecting a data folder, the Vulcan 3D Software Project Setup panel is displayed. You will be prompted to choose an existing Vulcan project file if there is at least one file to select from or create a new one.

  8. If there are no files to select from, you will be prompted to set up new project details like filename and project prefix.

  9. After entering the required values, you will be prompted to set up project coordinates and units.

  10. Enter all the details and click Finish to launch Vulcan.

  11. Once the project is launched, you can choose a design database (dgd.isis) to start using Vulcan.
