Scale Bar

Use this section to specify the location, colour, pattern, length and interval of any scale bars.

Horizontal scale bar

Include horizontal scale bar

Select this check box to include a horizontal scale bar on your plot.

Number of Intervals

Enter the number of intervals for the scale bar.

Interval Length

Enter the length, in world units, of one interval on the scale bar.

Scale bars are divided into two sections.

  • Section One
    This part of the scale bar, which is the length of one interval, is divided into five equal subintervals.
  • Section Two
    This part of the scale bar contains the number of intervals (each of the specified interval length) that you entered in the Number of Intervals field.

    In the diagram above, the number of intervals was 2 and the interval length was 200 metres.

    Hence your scale bar consists of one more interval that the value you entered in the Number of Intervals field.

Draw at top of plot

Select this check box to include a scale bar at the top of the plot.

Draw at bottom of plot

Select this check box to include a scale bar at the bottom of the plot.

Draw with title block

Select this check box to include a scale bar with the title block.

Draw in drafting sheet box

Select this check box to have the scale bar placed Scale Bar box on the drafting sheet. This option is only applicable if you have chosen to specify you page size by using a drafting sheet.

Display

Select the colour, line style and pattern for the scale bar.

Vertical scale bar

Include vertical scale bar

Select this check box to include a vertical scale bar on your plot.

Number of Intervals

Enter the number of intervals for the scale bar.

Interval Length

Enter the length, in world units, of one interval on the scale bar.

Scale bars are divided into two sections.
