Limits of use
Environment
The scanner is suitable for use in an atmosphere appropriate for permanent human habitation. It is not suitable for use in hazardous or explosive environments. The scanner is designed to operate in rugged conditions, but environmental conditions such as precipitation, dust, or extreme heat or cold can affect its operation and the quality of results. See Specifications for technical data for your scanner model.
Working in hazardous areas
Local safety authorities and experts must be contacted before working in hazardous areas, or in close proximity to electrical installations or similar situations, by the person in charge of the product.
Scanning in the vicinity of survey prisms
Survey prisms can damage the scanner. Do not scan survey prisms in the target area that are closer than 100 m. This includes survey prisms above and below the target elevations, since the scanner beam continues through these regions.
Maintenance, calibration, and servicing
The scanner system must be maintained according to the directions of this operator manual to prolong its operational lifespan. Maptek advises that the scanner should be serviced and calibrated by a Maptek service facility every 12 months to ensure that it retains its accuracy to within specifications. See Care and Maintenance for more information.
