Connecting to a scanner wirelessly

FieldHHC can connect to R3 MkII scanners wirelessly using Wi-Fi.

To connect to a scanner wirelessly:

  1. Make sure the scanner is turned on and has Wi-Fi enabled. See Enabling or disabling Wi-Fi on the scanner for details.

  2. Select the Wi-Fi scanner in FieldHHC.

    1. Go to SettingsConnectivity.

    2. Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled by tapping On.

    3. Make sure the name of the Wi-Fi scanner appears in the button on the right. If not, tap the button, select the scanner from the list of available scanners, then tap Save.

When FieldHHC detects that a connection is available, the Connect button will enable.

  3. Tap Connect to establish the connection.

Tip:  FieldHHC remembers the last selected Wi-Fi scanner. On next startup, if a connection to the scanner is available, you can connect immediately by tapping Connect.

Tip:  If drop-outs and disconnections occur due to radio interference, you can try changing the Wi-Fi channel in SettingsConnectivity.

After a connection is established, the Acquire tab appears and replaces the Connect button.

  • To force a disconnection to the scanner, go to SettingsConnectivity and tap Disconnect.

Connecting to a scanner with an Ethernet cable

To connect to a scanner with an Ethernet cable:

  1. Plug the supplied Ethernet cable into the Ethernet ports of the scanner and the FieldHHC tablet.

  2. Turn the scanner on. FieldHHC will detect that a connection is available and the Connect button will enable. The scanner will be ready to connect to when its power button light is solid green.

  3. To establish the connection, tap Connect.

Note:  If Ethernet auto connect is enabled in SettingsConnectivity, FieldHHC will establish the connection automatically.

After a connection is established, the Acquire tab appears and replaces the Connect button.

  • To force a disconnection to the scanner, go to SettingsConnectivity and tap Disconnect.
